Yoga is truly for everyone and every "body." If you are uncertain about attending a class I hope you'll find comfort and gain courage in the words below.

Jaya's classes are helping every aspect of my life. I have always had terrible back and neck issues, but was active. I suffered a terrible accident 3 years ago and could not do a thing. I got up the courage and took my first class with Jaya a year ago. Even though I could barely do anything, Jaya helped me and made me feel comfortable. Her classes are gentle enough for someone older and/or in pain, but challenging enough to build strength. That's a perfect combination for me! The quality of my life has improved immensely. I have significantly less pain and am back to doing a lot of the old activities I did before my injury.
My only complaint is that she doesn't teach every day!

I’d never tried yoga before, ever. I saw a newspaper article about Jaya yoga doing yoga with adoptable cats. It peaked my interest enough to contact her and ask about her classes. I started going and really liked it. She explained the poses and then showed the various alternatives. Now I am hooked and try not to miss a class, unless I’m traveling. I would recommend trying one of her classes, especially for those who have never tried yoga. You will be pleasantly surprised, and your body will thank you for it.

Joining Jaya's gentle / arthritis yoga class has changed my life for the better. As a 64 year old suffering from lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and lasting effects of cancer treatment I wasn't even sure I could complete an entire session. Imagine my surprise when within a few sessions I realized my joint pain was easing and my mobility and flexibility was increasing. Thanks to Jaya's perception and kind attention to her participants' issues the sessions are very individualized and different each time. She has a gift for knowing which parts of our bodies need work and how hard to push. One additional bonus I had not expected is the mental and emotional benefits of yoga. I leave each practice feeling renewed - physically and spiritually. I couldn't imagine a better instructor or group of people to enjoy the yoga experience with.

I have enjoyed Jaya's yoga classes so much. I love the variety of stretching, balancing, twisting, breathing and poses. Jaya is very, very professional...always on time, welcoming to everyone and keeps us well aware of the upcoming schedule. Her soothing and gentle manner is such a treat. And her kindness envelopes you for the time you're with her. Her meaningful written reflections given at the end of each class are a special gift to think about all week and make great bookmarks! Jaya is very generous to the community with her time and talent, both to the human population as well as with nature, and the animal population. Jaya's classes are held in various locations and I feel blessed to practice in the beautiful Cedarhurst with this beautiful woman.
Namaste.
